“Final Design and Development of Game Project”

Before I develop this project, the first thing I did was planning the assets and narrative structures that I needed just to make sure all the backgrounds, cutscenes, references and character sprites are ready to use. When it comes to designing the materials, I think Photoshop and FireAlpaca application are necessary for reducing time. Now that designing and developing using Unity Fungus is complete, I can test and build to run this game in no time.

Before and After Menu Scene

During the development, I create a Menu canvas in advance, placing the buttons in the the bottom right. Those buttons were supposed to be bigger and wider for players to press it. But after designing the Menu scene, I decided to arrange them in smaller, just to give the background some space to make it stylish. For designing the Menu, I added some NPCs silhouettes just to foreshadowed who they’re going to meet up.

Instructions and Quit Scene Result:

They have the same background except, the title and buttons were removed, replacing with their own names and buttons. The Instruction scene is about showing the Game Controls and the options to play or back to menu. It is what the players needed to understand the only mouse control before playing this game. As for the Quit scene, I had to put two options and warned players whether they want to quit the game or not.

Town Map with Icons Examples:

This screenshot is pretty interesting. It's like I wasn’t planning to create an effective background but, I realized this game contains 3 days for players to explore the world. So, I have to add some few adjustments in the environment, especially the sky background in the town map, representing the Day and Night version.

Environment Changes:

Having a Town Map icon on the screen is not enough, so I have to make some environment changes that will make the world building effective to the player. Those background images below represents the Silver Square town with a silhouette style. It is basically a world building of a game and Silver is the main colour theme. Designing this background has some meaningful hints that will lead the player to further answers whether they understand the NPCs interactions or not. The Day 1-2 has black and white vans in the Morning and Night Town whereas the Day 3 has no vans, which means that something will change depending on the player’s outcomes.

Day 1-3 Narrative Flowchart Draft and Final Images

The first version of narrative flowchart used to have more blocks and directions that the player has to face in different outcomes. However, after adding the character’s textboxes and choices, I decided to reduce the number of blocks, giving me some time to put the character by order. The Day 1-2 are the combined narrative flowchart because they are inside the same scene whereas the Day 3 is in different scene.
