“Creative Sketching Process”

Sketching Characters

After creating character descriptions, I sketch them with the appearance of 14-years old teenagers. The sketch model was the first step before finalising their concept art. The character design should show they wear simple clothes that portray their personalities and hobbies. Their expression must be part of their roles.

Sketching Character Pose, Expressions and Hand Gestures

There are six characters I need to draw and most of them needs expression, hand gestures and poses. Their appearance are important for showing the visual presentation of this game. Before creating character sprites, I used to sketch their poses that are based on the references I found in Pinterest. The links are found in the reference details.

Using the References like Visual Novel Game characters

Sketching character pose and hand gestures are harder without inspirations. That’s why using reference is important to follow their pattern and use it for drawing something in your own style. Some references are characters from the visual novel games like Danganronpa and TWEWY series. Their links are found in Spriters resource files and Pinterest.

Sketching Backgrounds

As for the Background settings, I used real-life place references and sketch them with different styles to show what the world-building of this game looks like.

Sketching their cutscenes and apperances

The cutscene images at the bottom, were basically my idea to highlight the character's interactions and their role in the story.
